Short answer: I build MOT and service reminder systems in GoHighLevel for independent garages and MOT centres. Every customer gets a text 30, 14 and 7 days before their MOT is due, with a link to book, using the customer and vehicle data you already have. Nobody at the garage has to remember to send anything.
Most garages already hold years of MOT dates. The problem is that nothing uses them. When a customer forgets, they book with whichever garage reminds them first. A reminder system turns this year’s MOT into next year’s booking.
What I build for garages
- MOT reminders by text at 30, 14 and 7 days before the due date, each with a link to book.
- Service reminders from each vehicle’s service due date, with one combined message when the MOT and service fall close together, so customers never get two overlapping texts.
- Automatic data sync from your garage software export or spreadsheet into GoHighLevel through Make.com, so new MOT dates flow in without anyone retyping them.
- One vehicle, one record, linked to its owner, so a two car household gets the right reminder for each car.
- Missed call text back: when the phone isn’t answered during a busy shift, the caller gets a text within seconds with a booking link.
- Online booking into a calendar that matches your bays and opening hours.
- Review requests after the job, to grow your Google reviews.
- Advisory follow up (optional): a text a few weeks after the MOT for work that was advised but not booked.
How the build works
01 Data audit
I check your customer and vehicle export first: duplicates, missing phone numbers, date formats and vehicles with more than one owner. Clean data is what makes every reminder name the right car.
02 Sync
A Make.com scenario reads your export, matches each vehicle (by VIN where registrations repeat), then updates or creates it in GoHighLevel and marks it as synced so nothing is processed twice.
03 Controller workflow
One workflow reads each vehicle’s dates and routes it to the MOT, service or combined reminder.
04 Reminders, opt-outs and testing
Texts go out at 30, 14 and 7 days with a booking link and an opt-out on every message. Everything is tested on internal numbers before a single customer is texted.
Proof: a UK garage group, two sites
Delivered as a white label build for a UK agency partner:
- 8,778 vehicle records checked and cleaned.
- 2,386 customers enrolled.
- 2,600+ reminders scheduled.
- 3 reminders per MOT, plus service and combined reminders. Read the full case study.
What you need to get started
- An export of customers and vehicles with registration, MOT due date, service due date and mobile number. A spreadsheet is fine.
- A UK texting number in GoHighLevel. UK numbers need a regulatory bundle with your business details, and I walk you through it.
- Your booking link or the hours you want customers to book into.
- Agreement on message wording. I write the first draft and you approve it before anything sends.
Pricing
Builds are priced once, with no retainer required. How much depends on how many sites you run and how your data arrives, so I give you a fixed price after a 30 minute call. See the current packages, or book a free audit call.
